Thirsty for more review and giveaway!

In Allison Allen's book, Thirsty for More shes talks about discovering God's unexpected blessings in a desert season. We thirst for God's nearness when we are in the desert seasons.

She writes, one of the blessings the desert teaches us is strength and confidence.  A holy confidence that, in Christ, we are capable of more than we previously believed. And sometimes to prove such a thing to our timid hearts, he walks us into the desert, where we have no choice but to go through the experience we are convinced we cannot weather. And when we do, we have the assurance that we can follow him into whatever comes next.

Surrender. Let go. These old things don't serve you anymore. This desert, daughter, is for your surrender, and surrender is the doorway to a new spiritual season. It's time to wave the flag.

This book is very encouraging. She shows how God can use these times in our lives to reveal himself to us. Show us his plan, restore our souls, and give us strength.

1600 miles of fun- Where we stayed {Part 3}

For our trip I decided to check out AirBNB and we found two great places to stay in the Santa Fe area.

The first place we stayed was Casa Kachina on Turquoise Trail near Madrid, NM. It was an Cute adobe style house and Deb was an amazing host!!  The weather was perfect so we opened the windows and enjoyed the fresh air and breathtaking views.

Our second stop was in Santa Fe at a Country Guest, with our host Knut. Kunt and his wife provided us with fresh eggs and homemade bread. My daughters loved seeing the chickens, geese, and their friendly dog.

1600 miles of fun Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument {Part 2}

This year my daughter was able to get the Every Kid in a park, National Parks 4th grade pass.  We put her NP pass to use this past fall when we drove to New Mexico on our road trip.

About the pass:
Beginning each September, if you are a US fourth grader (including home-schooled and free-choice learners 10 years of age) you can download your own voucher to gain unlimited, free access to any federal lands or waters for a year! Head over to https://www.everykidinapark.gov to learn more.

On our way to Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument we stopped at the Blue Hole
in Santa Rosa, NM.

Blue Hole appears in the midst of the desert like a great blue gem. ( Agua Negra Chiquita) Once known as Blue Lake, it is one of seven sister lakes connected underground by a vast system of water. The water is a constant 62 degrees.

 Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is a remarkable outdoor laboratory, offering an opportunity to observe, study, and experience the geologic processes that shape natural landscapes.  The National Monument, on the Pajarito Plateau in north-central New Mexico, includes a national recreation trail and ranges from 5,570 feet to 6,760 feet above sea level.  It is for foot travel only, and contains two segments that provide opportunities for hiking, bird watching, geologic observation, and plant identification.

We hiked both the cave loop and slot canyon trail. The girls loved climbing and hiking. We had a picnic lunch after our hike and we stopped on the way out and turned in their booklet for another Junior Ranger Badge.
